Should I try to fix broken GPU's on eBay?

I see a few "for parts only" listed graphics cards on eBay for really cheap. They say that the fans don't spin or they don't post with a screen at all. But I did fine a GTX 980 ti that does post but the display goes out after the boot screen. So I'm just wondering if I could save a buck (especially in this mining craze) just to game better lol. I don't gamble, so my answer would be know. You could very well be throwing both time and money out the window for a paper weight.

 

Also, I don't really trust anyone on Craigslist or Ebay. If I get used, it's from friends that I trust. Otherwise, I don't do it.

You need expensive equipment usually to fix dead GPUs. I would only buy an EVGA card with the warranty as you can RMA then

not really worth the risk imo, if the only problem would be the fans not spinning you could fix it by zip tying a few case fans onto it. But if it doesn't display anything it is most likely a bigger problem.

Yes, because if his video failed, he probably wouldn't have put it on YouTube.... The oven fix is for certain things. If the actual hardwired circuitry is jacked up, the oven will not do a damn thing. It's only for solder. And you'd be better off getting the proper heat gun instead of your oven for that.
