GeForce GTX 960

can someone plz tell me if this graphics card can go into my computer, because apparently that graphics card isnt compatible with my computer.

Computer specs:

AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz Hexa-Core, NVIDIA GT740 (2GB) Graphics, 16GB DDR3 Memory, 1TB HDD, WiFi, DVD±RW, LED Fan Control Panel, Microsoft Windows 8.1 Home 64-Bit (Discontinued by Manufacturer) (From Amazon)

https://www.amazon.com/CybertronPC-Hellion-Gaming-Desktop-Discontinued/dp/B00D1KWS3I

So i asked for a GeForce GTX 960, but instead my mom asked her friend that was a computer maker and said that wouldnt work on my computer, so instead she got me a 1070 because they said "this is compatible with my computer".

Instead it isnt, can you plz check if it is compatible, cause i check from this website and i put my CPU and my GPU together that are the ones i have right now and it said 19% of getting bottle necked, that is with the AMD FX-6300 3.5Hz Hexa-Core and a GeForce GTX 1070, but i then checked with the 960 i wanted, and it said 1% of getting bottlenecked. this is the website.

Plz can someone help me on this, thanks.

Are you for real? like no trolling or any thing? Because whoever said a GTX 960 was not compatible but a GTX 1070 is played a massive scam at you... in fact a GTX 960 was the far more wise solution since the 1070 will be massively bottlenecked by your CPU.

But if the author of the post got the 1070 for free it is a win win situation. " she got me a 1070"

How much did your mom spend on that 1070? Because if it was sub-$600, you can sell it off for a tidy profit then buy the 960 you wanted.

Changing the processor won't help much. The fx8370 is the most powerful cup that fits in that socket, that doesn't require water cooling, and it will not help in most games. All it does is add 2 more cores  that won't be used. It will still be bottlenecked.  you would need a new cpu, mobo,  amd ram to upgrade. Can you sell the 1070?

Well you should do an i5 8400 based gaming system, but that will be expensive since you need a new motherboard, cpu and memory.

If you genuinely paid $350 for a 1070, then all I can say to you is congratulations, now sell that thing. You can get $600-700 for it on eBay right now.

Well from what I could understand somebody had this card and needed to get rid of it for some cash thus why he lied about the GTX 960 not being compatible and pushed the 1070... 350$ can make all the difference if you're on an extreme rush out of need.

I don't care how the OP got the card, just sell it.

no you see, i bought this 1070 from amazon, and then my mom has a friend that knows how to build computers, so hes the one that put the 1070 into my computer and said that the 960 wouldnt be compatible but the 1070 will.

we paid him nothing, he was just kind enough to put that card into my computer

Its the board, not the CPU.

Theoretically any GPU should work in any board, but UEFI has somewhat changed that.

Get a new R5 or i5 based setup and it will work fine.  Alternatively, get a late model AM3+ motherboard with UEFI and a better heatsink.  Then OC that FX chip to 4.6ghz and use the 1070 in that setup.
