Ok so, i’m deciding between the s440 and the h440 from nzxt. i’m leaning towards the h440 cause i wanted my 240mm rad on the top. The cooler is a 100i v2. that’s basically the only argument i have, i kind of wanted it on the top as an output for lower gpu temperatures, but would i see any noticeable difference in the front or on the top, cause the s340 only has room on the front. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Lower GPU temps but higher CPU tems.

Also, it's only a couple of degrees, who cares.

i have a 1070 strix card, i know my 8700k will get hot but how hot will that gpu get? cause if the gpu temps aren’t a problem then maybe the front would be better

As a rule of thumb, CPU temps are usually much higher than GPU temps, especially on the 8700k. I would go with whatever config benefits the CPU.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Neither, get the Silverstone RL06 Pro, it should have the best in class thermals with it's 3 front intake fans at stock

Also what's the rest of your build and budget/country and monitor set up if you haven't bought anything yet, and where are you even buying a 1070?

Those cases aren't exactly bad but they do lack some airflow, if you want a silent case look for the Be Quiet! Darkbase 600, or here's some more in this list

i already have the 1070, i bought it at my local canada computers, and as you might have figured out from that i live in canada, the rest of the build is asus z370-f motherboard, 16gb or gskill trident v rgb ram, 500gb samsung ssd(not m.2) 2tb hard drive and corsair rm650x power supply. budget is under $200

As others have said above, I'd go with neither of them. Get the Define R6 if it's in your budget, otherwise I'd get something like the  Silverstone RL06 or Meshify C.

H440 wont be kind to your GTX 1070. There's hardly any airflow (that soild front panel makes the front intakes useless), so the H440 is really only for watercooled builds

If you're only gaming at 60hz an R5 1600 is a far more compelling CPU for the money, the 8700K is only worth it if you need the best 144hz gaming in the average AAA game.

AS others have stated, your level of hardware will put out more heat than either the S340 or H440 can properly manage, especially in their stock configurations.

The Define C series (Define C, TG, Meshify C) and the Enthoo Pro M Series (Acrylic window, TG, SE) are fantastic airflow cases for under or just around $100 USD
