Is Alibaba reliable

I was told Alibaba is a good marketplace because everything is cheap( A gtx 1080 IS $200). I am urged to buy these items, is it reliable, will I be scammed?? If you have bought off Alibaba please tell me your experience.

Not as ebay/paypal is. Good luck getting a refund and sending back your item..... buying anything from Alibaba.

Wouldn't trust them for massive purchases... but then again I bought PSP junk and a $5 lens adaptor (metal) for my Canon S5 

 

I would say the best bet would be aliexpress however I should also state I only have bought from DX and only small purchases.

 

Assume all electronics to be fake on those sites even if stated otherwise.

Alibaba is mostly only good to buy wholesale stuff directly from a manufacturer, (one reputable with multiple year gold membership stars)

they have good buyer protection, so you are safe, but don't buy blatant scams anyways

If you go to a flea market and see something that appears to be overpriced, look on alibaba for it and see how much the price is. If you see a 1080 that is being sold for $600, and they're selling it for $200 however, use your intuition. If the deal appears to good to be true, it more than likely already is.

its going to likely be a 470 or some other old card faked in software and with a different cooler on don't do it.

Not sure if you're trolling but I don't think you're understanding what everyone means when they say fake. There won't be any performance to be affected, at least not anywhere near 1080 performance. You'll see maybe 10% of the performance of a REAL 1080 if you buy the one you're looking at for $200. Or it won't work at all. But if you're really deadset on buying this thing let us know how it goes.

Well, as a Chinese I have to tell you the Alibaba-owned Taobao enjoys quite a 'fame' for fake products... So be very careful while using it, and make sure there's a way of refund. Things are indeed cheap there, though.

Don't buy gpus from chinese sites. 90% of the time they are fakes and other gpus with a bios flashed over thats not theirs
