I don't love that Mining is in this section

There was already a discussion on this but no final comment from LTT forum mods.

If this community doesn't care about folding anymore, I guess there's no reason to do it. Guess I'll start mining...

Considering other tech sites I go to keep the two split, I would prefer they do split them.

Because, it is annoying to glance through and look for F@H/BOINC threads among the ridiculous levels of mining threads.

Even though I do both mining and folding, I still feel that the two topics were separated due to the conflict of interests. I've had friends who were miners asking me why I run folding if it does give me money at all because there was no benefit in doing so compared to mining so that's one of the reason why I'd love to see the two topics separated.

again i have to disagree. Certain folding teams do give you incentive to fold in the form of store credits.

I would say the combination of old hardware and hardware failing, plus people being unable to replace the hardware is one of the reasons that people are not folding anymore. Also, not sure why you think people arent folding when you can clearly see the numbers go back up from the lows of 7-17 to the high of 12-17. That is during the height of the speculative bitcoin market.

It is your gear. But mining is tanking right now and a lot of the miners here used to run Boinc before the boom. Some might go back to Boinc as things swing downwards.

Hardware-wise you are surrounded by the most promising recruiting targets you could hope for.
