are next gen volta gpu 1 month away? 2 months, 3 months..?

trying to get an idea on possible timelines, have clients that want high end systems with dual 1080 ti's, but im telling them to wait for volta, how accurate is the advice?!

I still put my money on consumer Volta/Ampere only in 2019.

 

1080 Ti in 2way SLI is a waste when a single 1080 Ti can game any game at any resolution.

Fairly inaccurate.

 

Because Volta isn't coming to consumers. Ampere is. Ampere may launch around May or June. So the best advice to give would be for your clients to purchase retail $750-800 USD GTX 1080Ti from Stores. Don't buy them online and make sure to buy them in retail on the day their shipment arrives.

if you can wait for the next product to release, wait for said product to release.

Im lying to them by saying they should perhaps wait a little longer? Albeit i probably didn't word my orginal post well, but still, urging caution to people about to spend over $2000 on a product that may depreciate incredibly quickly the next 3 months imo is decent advice.

 

Seeking to double check my own knowledge and logic imo is a good thing, i mean, how else do people learn/get informed? I googled for an hour or so before posting, have been following it on and off, so i put in some reasonable due diligence.

There isn't a single person posting in this thread (myself included) that has any idea what NVidia is planning to release, and when.  No one.  Anything you've read thus far is pure speculation based on nothing more than assumptions.  The most accurate thing posted is, "and GTC is coming up"; that's typically when NVidia announces new GPUs for the market.

 

Until then, it's speculation.  Nothing more.  @manikyath has the best advice:  If you want something now, buy what's available now.  If you can wait indefinitely, then wait.  Something new will always be right around the corner.
