I'd rather play GTAV on a GT210 than pay any of these prices.

Sad thing is they're in stock now but give it a day and they'll be gone again, by all the miners who are already making $1000 a month from mining alone after paying all their bills

Problem is if it DOES die, you'll be paying $1000 to get the same gaming performance again at current prices.

If it dies it will be covered under warranty.  

 

I've killed the cooling fans on both my R9 390s which have been run 24/7 for two and a half years along with another dedicated rig full of cards, and had zero issues getting them warrantied. 

 

You don't hear about people burning out cards by mining because it's just not something that actually happens, with the exception of those who either aren't keeping them cool and/or exceeding safe OC.

All this madness doesn't necessarily make me any happier about my decision to stick with my 980Ti and leapfrog the 10-series.

It just makes it so I have no other choice but to wait until the next generation of GPUs show up and hope that I can get in early enough on that to acquire one before the miners do.

All while holding onto the slim hope that by that time, consumer/gaming grade GPUs will no longer be profitable for miners as hash difficulty outpaces general purpose GPU performance.

Why would you want to upgrade from a 980ti at this point anyway? Unless you are doing 4K or 144Hz, that card is still really good.

It is really good. I've even got it water-cooled in a custom loop (overclocked obviously) so I have even less incentive to upgrade it right now.

 

I do game on an X34 Predator thought. So that's 1440p ultra-wide at 100Hz.

I also like to game at the highest quality settings I can.

So far everything is great. Which is why I wasn't in any hurry to jump on the 10-Series.

But there will inevitably come a time when the games I want to run will need more power to keep everything crisp and smooth.

 

When the GTX Volta family of cards comes out, I'll be keeping my eyes open.

I have a 980Ti as well, thought about mining on it, but I just don't want to burn up a perfectly good card too soon. Planning to keep it for a while .

He has warranty and if you keep the temps under control it doesn't matter.
