Definitely not a substitute for Anti-Virus.. the devs themselves say that same thing..

Personally I never leave Defender enabled, you can disable it through gpedit. I would recommend Avast, and Malwarebytes as a pair. Both are free tools and work amazing, I've recommended it to hundreds of clients for free security, but both platforms also have great paid versions which both offer some compelling deals.

But the best security is common sense, some people recommend Anti-Virus and others don't. Personally myself I haven't used it in years, if not more than a decade. I've just always ran a custom firewall that blocks literally everything except things I allow, and I actively monitor my network traffic. Just be sure to always check for system security updates and application updates as this can block system vulnerabilities at multiple levels. I don't generally recommend this as it can get you into trouble if you don't know what your doing.

Yeah, I know, just couldn't be arsed to go through the whole rigmarole of mentioning all the good AVs out there, this question has been asked and answered at least 1000 times on this site alone. Plus I saw the screenshot OP posted and thought he was asking for something to go along with windows defender that shows in the screenshot.

Personally I use windows defender and malwarebytes, plus others as scan only progs, and just FWIW having an "always on" AV and then not actually using a scanner every now and then is shoddy, in fact to cover your bases I reckon you should use at least 2 AVs as scan only, as they generally have some stuff that scrapes through usually, so using a couple or more as "scan only" - in other words don't use them in always on mode, as that WILL cause problems and could lead to it being almost the same as having none.
