Yeah this is why I am asking if it is worth the cost. It is always a matter of price to performance. It will probably cost me around 100 Euros more to buy the 8600k with mobo and cooler.

ryzen 1600 is a pretty capable CPU, of course there is always better performance. Better performance per dollar i don't think so.

Until a few months before coffee lake everybody was happy it the 1600, so...

Hey guys I would like to ask your opinion on which cpu to buy.

End of january I will buy myself a new pc and I am currently choosing the parts.

My pc

- nzxt s340

- 16gb ram

- 500W power supply

- Radeon HD 7580 1gb (waiting for gpu prices to go down so I am using the old graphics card of a friend until that happens but I probably will buy a 1060 6gb)

so now to my question, ryzen 5 1600/ ryzen 5 1600x with the 612 evo Coolermaster/ i5 8600k 612 evo Coolermaster

I will use it mostly for gaming and casual stuff (no content creation).

Thx for all replies:)

I would go Ryzen 5 1600 with the aftermarket cooler and OC.

I would go with the 8600k If you are mostly going to be gaming. Otherwise looks like a nice build. One thing you might want to look into is the s340 Elite is about the same price as the normal one but it looks much nicer

I change my mind, maybe ryzen would be better

Why go with the non x when i should buy an aftermarket cooler anyways? the price difference is 20 Euros

The stock cooler is fine, I haven't had any temperature problems with mine(granted I haven't overclocked, but the stock cooler can get you almost to 4Ghz).

Why is ryzen better? Is it because of the high thread count? In which case would you recommend buying the 8600k because I thought higher clock speeds are better for gaming while higher core count makes content creation easier

If u can afford a 8600k, then go for it, theres no contest when it comes to gaming and single thread performance.

The only time i would recommend a ryzen 1600x vs a 8600k is if u needed the extra threads for multitasking.

Is it really the same performance like literally? Cool I didn't know that.

Overclocked 1600 = 1600X.

The 1600 is overall better value than the 1600X, it even comes with a pretty capable stock cooler(something AMD's older generations didn't).

You should 100% wait for Feburary 12th and get one of the new Ryzen APUs at that point, the intergrated GPU will actually be faster if I'm not mistaken.

And maybe get a case that's more airflow focused like the masterbox 5 black or Silverstone RL06 Pro

Even for pure gaming the i7 8700 would make more sense to buy than the 8600K, hyperthreading likely being more useful than like a 700mhz advantage for the i5.

Are you saying that the integrated gpu is going to be faster than a 1060 6gb?

Well the i7 8700k is of course the best option but it is too expensive for me

Basically, yes. Ryzen will be better to have when games start utilizing more threads(whenever the heck that is). Future proof is a relative term, technology is fluid, everchanging, etc etc.

A dedicated GPU(such as the 1060) is almost always better than an integrated GPU. No iGPU is faster than a 1060 6Gb
