Yes, so I should keep the mobo and get a Quad like i5 7500? OR change the mobo and get an i5 8400?

keep the mobo and get i5-7500

Hello, I have just built a Mini itx pc which I will use for word processing and file editing work. It works well for me and I'm able to do most of the things I want i.e, Youtube, 7z extraction/compression, Word processing within time. However, I'm thinking of shifting to a Quad[i5-7500]/Hexa core[i5-8400] as I don't want to change anything for the next five years. Should I do so? Or G4560 will work for most of my needs? And if you are suggesting me to go for a Hexa/Quad core which one from i5 7500 and i5 8400 is better as I would have to change the motherboard?

i5 7500 would cost me around $150 used and I dont have to upgrade the Mobo.

i5 8400 would cost me $160-200 and would have to change Mobo

It would get job done but I won't recommend it...

"May your frame rates be high and your temperatures low"

I misread titles/posts way too often--correct me if I don't.

Whats your all in cost?

Could look at a Ryzen build?

If you wait a few weeks, they are coming out with igpu cpu's = apu

May be a cheap pcpartspicker build, but still $500 easy!

Your needs and requirements do not require new gen parts. I say buy the $235 complete pc with O/S that has the i5 4570 cpu and you are still rockin'-n-rollin' saving your money for whatever you need extra money for! Drop a bit extra for ram, or look for pc that already has 8GB of ram.

Refurbished: HP Grade A Desktop Computer 600 G1 Intel Core i5 4th Gen 4570 (3.20 GHz) 8 GB DDR3 500 GB HDD Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit (Free Upgrade to 2-Year Warranty with Registration) $259.00 Free Shipping

To buy an O/S for your new pc is an added $75 cost! While the one above comes with W10 O/S.

Just keep the G4560 and build away.

If you require i5 later because your work is slow on the G4560 then do so.

As time goes on the i5 will be cheaper!

Keep your eyes peeled for sales at Microcenter and Newegg and MemoryExpress and NCIX and BestBuy. I wouldnt buy something like that on Fleabay aka eBay.

Well my G4400 still does daily tasks and indie games just fine.

Banished even runs at max settings 40+ FPS 1200p.

Same here 99% of the time but I need a 8700k and 1080 Ti for the 1% of time I play modded skyrim and witcher 3.

Ok, I lied, I play Civ VI mostly and thats a freaking multicore / threaded hog. Waiting for the sweet expansion, wait can I preorder it yet? Lemme check.

(And proceeds to play Cuphead on said PC). My PC is bipolar, not me.

Within a month the Ryzen 3 2200G will come out and will have integrated graphics.

MSRP should be around $130 and the motherboard around $80-90.

Or you could go with Intel i3-8100 ($130), but the motherboard is gonna be around $130...

Wouldnt a used 7500[$150] would be better in a Quad cpu case as I dont have to change the Mobo?
