I would like to create a build with those two components so i'm looking for the rest of the components that will handle things well without spending too much money.

i already have a corsair 650 and Dark Rock Pro 3 and i5 8600k + gtx 1080 strix

Thanks a lot guys

The Corsair VS is fairly bad for that kind of config, I would advise against any OC. But it should work fine for the most part.

@War91 Nice build!! so u dont suggest m.2 storage?

m.2 inst needed you could get the m.2 variant of that ssd i posted(here https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX300-525GB-Internal-Solid/dp/B01L80DH4G) but there isn't any noticeable gain in performance in m.2 unless its nvme even then its not gonna notice it much unless your doing massive file transfers

the vs650 ISNT bad per se there is  just better quality psu's you could get that would last  you like 10 years lol like the evga 650 g2( really good psu btw)

The VS uses low quality components and is meant for office PCs.

It can handle 650W but it's life span will go down quite fast under those loads as it can operate well only under very low load temperatures which are almost impossible to achieve with this unit under any significant loads.

no the vs650 isnt bad.....its just not designed to be used when ocing a cpu/gpu its a fine psu if your not gonna overclock at all

if you dont intend to overclock then there is  no point to  get a new psu if you end wanting to overclock then you can get a new psu when that times comes but for now you should be alright just useing that vs650 despite what people here try to tell you..you dont NEED a better psu

The PSU is the only part in the system that can kill all the rest. And the VS isn't know to be particularly reliable.

Blown caps can send ripple that will kill the rest of the PC, even if it turns on and seems to work fine.

If you can, return it. Something like a Pure Power 10 400W should be fine. The better options would be something like the G2, G3, GQ, Focus Plus, or any other tier 1-2 PSU in the list. 400W is plenty for an overclocked 8600K and a 1080. 450-550W is usually where the tier 1-2 PSUs start

:)
