Need advice on gaming PC build

deprime_

Need to build a new gaming PC, considering the following:

CPU - Ryzen 5 1600x

MB - MSI B350 Tomahawk

GPU - GTX 1060 ASUS Turbo

Case - Corsair Carbide 270R

RAM - Corsair Vengance LPX 16gb

PSU - Corsair CX650

SSD - Kingston UV400 200GB

HDD - WD Blue 3TB

Any feedback on how I could improve the build would be appreciated. Thanks

Do you really need 16GB of RAM? Are you doing any other things besides gaming?

P/S give me the pcpartpicker list if you can

If it's within your budget then it's a excellent build.

Don't get the 1600X, get the 1600 and overclock it.

All MSI AM4 boards are crap. Get the Prime Plus or the Pro4.

Just get the cheapest 1060 6GB.

Get whatever ≥2800 MHz RAM kit that's the cheapest. Brand doesn't matter.

Get the cheaper CX450M/550M, or get a better 550W PSU.

Unless the UV400 is much cheaper than other SSDs, don't get it.

Make sure you get a 7200RPM HDD.

:)

Honestly, now is such a terrible time to build a PC it's ridiculous. Memory is expensive. GPUs are practically nonexistent. Intel's i7 is nearly 400 dollars. Cases, by and large, have zero airflow.

Yep.

I don't think anyone expected the GPU or DRAM shortage to last this long.

think about the future -- where you can get an RX 480 for $180 and 16GB RAM for $70. prices on low-end-midrange PCs will quite literally be cut by almost 50%

It's fine if you ignore the VRM. It actually has manual voltage rather than an offset which is cool. For a 1500X it's totally fine.

The problem is not the hardware I think. Many people got various problems when it first released. Then they fixed many of them with BIOS upgrades. But still, so many people getting errors and RAM problems. At least I observed like this.

Since you didn't give a budget I made one with 1400 dollars. Also, I don't know the graphics cards deals in the USA so my graphics card price may be very expensive. Here is my config:

As I say I am not living in the USA so I only chose parts from Newegg. They might be cheaper in other stores.

That's just Ryzen as a whole though. My B350 Strix still can't run Hynix 3200 MHz memory above 3066 MHz. That's also a problem with AMD using an IMC on the CPU, which means that that it's own silicon lottery right there.

SSD - Kingston UV400 200GB

HDD - WD Blue 3TB

Any feedback on how I could improve the build would be appreciated. Thanks

CPU: Just get the 1600 non-x.

MB: The Tomahawk is good, but Gigabyte has a board, the Gaming-3, with more features for about the same price.

GPU: Wouldn't recommend a blower style, but make sure the card is 6GB, not 3GB.

Case: It's fine.

RAM: Just go for the cheapest 16GB 2800MHz+ memory with a heatsink.

PSU: The SeaSonic EVO-Edition 620w is fully-modular and cheaper.

SSD: Go for a larger capacity, 250-275.

HDD: If you need that much storage go ahead, but you can get a 2TB or 1TB to have more budget for a better SSD.

You do not want to run a 6-core on a board with that crappy VRM. Unless you have a fan blowing on the heatsink.

It's also a lot worse electrically
