A better case

Blancaster

I'm going to assume I already know answer to this, but I just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything. So I thinking about building my first PC this spring/summer and I was wondering if I should just go with a pretty normal case or go for something a little higher end (not for aesthetics, but for more features and creature comforts). My thinking is just go for something a little better since it can be upgraded and won't really go "obsolete" after a few years. Or can cases become obsolete or is there any other reason I might want to stick with a slightly cheaper case?

I think if aesthetics is not a concern get whatever fits your budget and needs from a brand like NZXT, Phanteks, Corsair etc......

What's your budget?

I currently have a Fractal Design Focus G Mini, depending on your mobo size. You can get a matx and a atx version. Really satisfied with the case and worth the money.

I second @Krazes - Fractal Design has tons of good cases for around $60. I'd take a look through their list and see which you like best. I do however think that you should stay away from their node series.

Fan Comparisons          F@H          PCPartPicker         Analysis of Market Trends (Coming soon? Never? Who knows!)

Designing a mITX case. Working on aluminum prototypes.

Open for intern / part-time. Good at maths, CAD and airflow stuff. Dabbled with Python.

Yeah Node's suck. I had a Fractal Design Define R4 before, I planned to go for a smaller size so I went for amd ryzen 5 1600 and a matx focus g mini.

(I recommend Define and Focus series.)

Focus is alot of bang for the buck. Flexible too. Only weakness is HDD space. i have Define C, It too has too few bays.. Only reason i upgrade. Otherwise i would have kept it.

I'd take a look at the Mastercase 5, and the P300.

I also recommend getting something with tempered glass.

Most cases do not "obsolete" unless they have features that aernt used anymore like eSATA, fire wire, they just become outdated (too many 5.25" bays, no USB 3.0, etc)

The Focus G is a quality case for the money. It has everything you need, nothing you dont, and comes in five different colors

If you have 60 bucks I am recommending the Phanteks Eclipse P300. It's the best bang for the buck.
