1440p to 4K

Wingfan

I am currently using a 1440p 144MHz IPS monitor. Would a 4K monitor be worth the investment?

What do you use your computer for and what are your specs. If you're gaming with 1070, then 4k is probably not worth the investment, but if you do video work, it might be. 1440p (2.5k) @ 144Hz is where you wanna be for gaming. Refresh rate > resolution.

I'd say 1440p 144Hz is a good for gaming and productivity. 4k would sacrifice higher frame rate for more pixels in games, and you'd have to drop the video settings a little. 4k is good for productivity and digital art and the such, but 1440p isn't bad either. I'd say stick with what you have and save your money.

Depends on if you have the power to drive it for what you want to do, and if you need the extra screen real-estate.

I find 1440p to be great, though could see myself moving to 4K within a few years as even my 1440p monitor gets a bit cramped at times. Especially as prices for high quality panels start coming down.

Your 1070 would likely be able to handle most games at 4K on anywhere from low to high settings depending on the game with playable framerates.

Wait for 4k @ 120Hz to become more mainstream. You'll regret your decision other wise going back to 60 hz from a 144hz panel

Also look into g-sync or freesync depending on your GPU if you haven't already. That's one of the best things about a higher end monitor
