New LTT Merch

Squilliam

I've been watching the channel for a few years, and it feels like the store hasn't been updated much these last few years. I would love to grab a mug much like Good Mythical Morning.

Is Linus open to outside persons (fans/3rd parties) designing new stuff for them to sell?

Maybe make a video out of it and have a fan contest to design a new LTT shirt, and give them royalties or a prize or something.

I doubt it @Squilliam Linus would want to keep his brand and have full control over it and not have any outside liabilities such as yourself designing stuff. Its much better for him to source it from China, and get it shipped to his HQ in Van. I have no clue on what his mark up would be but can only assume its a pretty large profit margin so I dont really know why he would push that aspect of his business, probably because he is too busy and he makes more money with his videos then merch. I found his clothing to be expensive so its obviously catering to ltt fans. Also, what the quality of his products are would be unknown to me as well, but it wouldnt be outright junky china fabric. Its pretty easy to source stuff over there, be the same manufacturing line as the majors, just a different plastered logo on the fabric.

It would be copyright infringement if I'm not mistaken. Provided he has it copyrighted. He'd have to go after you as well, otherwise he could stand to lose his rights to the logo. At least I believe that's how it works, might have been something else similar like patents. The fan made tee shirt is an interesting idea, but I think they'd probably do a one time prize rather than royalties since that just wreaks of time investment.

Merch margins would be quite high, but I don't think their volume is. I can't see a ton of people buying LTT merch. I mean, sure, some of their designs are cool, but RedBubble has thousands of cool designs and their stuff is quite cheap, and very nice quality.
