Exactly what the title suggests, What could I do to make my pc feel faster and new?

CPU: Intel Core i9 9900K | Ram: 16GB Corsair LPX 3000 DDR4 | Asus Maximus XI Hero Z390 | GPU: EVGA RTX2080 XC | 960 EVO Samsung 500GB M.2 | 850 EVO Samsung 250GB M.2 | Samsung 1TB QVO SSD | 1TB HDD WD Blue 

Laptop: Dell XPS 13 2 in 1 9370 | I7 1065G7 | 32GB DDR4 | 1TB SSD |

I would suggest adding an SSD, but going by your signature you already have one...

 

Killing non-essential start processes in Task Manager would certainly help

Add more ram if you have less then 8 gb, add an SSD to your pc if you are using an HDD as OS drive. Move to windows 7, SP1 if you are using anything newer. Do a clean install. Maybe change browsers. (the newest firefox seems to be nice)

 

But it's kinda important to know where you are coming from.

Is this the PC in your signature? If so, it shouldn't feel slow. given how new and high end the specs are. If it does, you either have unrealistic expectations or something is wrong.

Um, are you experiencing slowdowns that weren't there before? The easiest way to fix that is to reinstall Windows.

 

If you're talking about a PC other than the one in your sig, definitely add an SSD,

I totaly agree, but I asume I would get some hate when I'd use 16 gb as "minimum". Hence using 8 gb as minimum.

 

EDIT: PS: I did notice an improvement going from 7,5 gb to 14 gb, where I had 0,5 gb to my APU vs 2 gb now.

After getting 32GB is my gaming rig... anything less than 16 is unacceptable.

Again, I agree. I am considering 16 gb the minimum I want to use. But for most people, 8 gb is enough. >>> hence my origional statement/advice. :P

It is, It takes 30Secs to boot up.

Disable startup programs, enable fast boot. If you just want it to boot faster, use sleep mode rather than turning it off and it will be basically instant, though it will draw a little bit of power to keep data in RAM.

Do you know of any bios settings that could speed up boot time? I know fast boot is on Its a ASUS Mobo

Simply install an SSD. Even with my laptop's terrible APU it feels very responsive and smooth (it did start with an SSD-but it was that bad that a 7200RPM HDD was faster).

Being an Asus motherboard there just isn't much you can do to speed up the post time-they post rather slow when compared to motherboards from the likes of Gigabyte, Asrock and MSI.

Yeah, I mean like is there a settings you could turn on that is not on for the m.2?

If your really desperate for having it boot faster disable the following:

  • USB 3.0/3.1 ports
  • Comm/serial port
  • Onboard audio
  • SATA ports that aren't in use
  • All fans except for the CPU fan(makes a noticeable difference on my Z97 Sabertooth MKII surprisingly).
  • Ethernet adapter

The less things the BIOS has to monitor or check the better.

Reinstall the Windows is a great way for those who don't care about their OS properly and gets filled with junk installed... even potential malwares.

 

Clean the hardware entirely also works... accumulated dust on the heatsinks can harm thermal performance.

OP Maybe try a virus scan? If nothing shows up maybe try a clean windows install

battlefront 2 alone constantly uses over 8 gb of ram for me
