I Need to upgrade but how far do i go?

Hi Guys,

I am an avid gamer when i get chance, but i also do a lot of computer aided design. I like my PC to be aesthetically pleasing as well as bad ass and future proof. I am in dire need of an upgrade to my graphics card which i plan to replace with a 1080-Ti, but everything else i am unsure. Do i upgrade along with the graphics card or hold out for another year or so?

Listed below is my PC Specs.

Intel Core i7 4790

Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H

Avexir blitz 1.1 ddr3 2400mhz RAM 16GB 4 way

Nvidia GeForce Gtx 580

500GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6GBPS 32 LAYER 3D V-NAND SOLID STATE DRIVE

Honestly everything should be fine for another year.A haswell i7 should last a couple more years at least and 16GB of RAM is still more than enough. If you really wanted you could upgrade to an NVMe M.2 SSD as your boot drive but a SATA SSD is fast enough for most things.

Edit: Depending on what monitor your using a GTX 1080Ti could be a total waste of money, even for a 1920x1080 144Hz a GTX 1070 would be enough.

If anything, get a new GPU. I would recommend a used 980Ti if you can find a good deal on one, or a 1060 6Gb/1070. Maybe throw in a mechanical drive for mass storage for all your games.
