Getting a bad wound releases adrenaline, pain can be repressed which can also reduce your sense of touch (cant feel the blood dripping down your skin). 

 

Adrenaline is one hell of a drug.

Its possible that it was just internal bleeding so although he probably was in a lot of pain, he could have just disregarded it as pain due to smashing his head into glass.
