If you're really after bitcoin, don't look at PCs, but look at dedicated miners.

If you really want a high spec mining PC for other coins, you can work out the optimal ROI for a suitable configuration of GPUs and supporting infrastructure.

If you're just doing it for fun, you don't need to spend $13000 on it. A PC with at least one fairly recent mid to upper end card will be enough to try it out.

You can lose the same amount of money faster and more effectively by simply buying a 1000W space heater and throwing the other $12900 into the recycling bin.

Or if you want it to be fun, throw it into a fire instead of a recycling bin. Still way more fun than having a loud box in your house losing money constantly.

You'd have to mine an alt-coin. Normal hardware won't cut it anymore mining bitcoin. Even then the value of what coin you choose to mine vs how fast you can mine it vs electrical expense and hardware maintenance the only real way to profit is to pick a coin that looks promising and is easy to mine then hope it goes up in value down the road. Alternative pick a crypto exchange market and get good at trading.

If you are really adamant in getting into cryptocurrency, take $3,000 and build yourself a good PC for personal stuff, and invest $10,000 in alt-coins. Do research on what the best up and coming ICO's or coins in the market and invest. Learn to read the market trends and work the market so that you can make money. By the time you even get enough cryptocurrency through mining to break even, the values of said crypto would have gone up.

OR

In the spirit of the holidays, donate it all to charity. It would be a good tax deduction.

8 1080ti rig wouldn't net you about 1400 a month. That's based on what I would pay on electricity. Total price for the rig would be under 10k. That's if you want windows with a limit of 8 nvidia cards instead of using a mining os. And mining zcash. That and eth which have gone up quite a bit.
