Windows 10 won't install latest security updates

Every 15 minutes or so, a pop-up appears, saying that windows can't install necessary updates, and this tabs me out of games, which can really mess things up. I've tried updating manually, but it wont't fix it. Any help is appreciated :)

Reformat reinstall. Should fix the issue.

 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Reboot your system and don't run any programs. Close Steam, Origin, any device management software like Corsair Link... close it all. Then attempt a manual update. If nothing, reboot and try again.

 

It sounds like a file-lock issue where the OS can't install the update without closing a currently-running program that's accessing a file it's trying to overwrite.

I would run Microsoft Safety Scanner and Microsoft Malicious Software Removal tool, both the most recent versions.  Also download Malwarebytes and run that.  Sometimes a virus will keep security updates from installing.

 

Other than that make sure your OS drive isn't full.

You can download the update from the update catalog and install manually if need be. This usually works fine.
