4) Configure Default Route

Changed IPv4

192.168.0.2

Default Route, is the IP address of your Router.

If your router is 192.168.1.1 then your IPv4 address of your host has to be 192.168.1.X because you're using a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

When I try to do these 3 I always get "No route to host".

And Googling hasn't been of any help.

I followed a tutorial here

1) Configure Network Interfaces

Changed IPv4

em0, 192.168.0.2, 255.255.255.0

4) Configure Default Route

Changed IPv4

192.168.0.2

6) Configure DNS

name = lab.local

Nameserver 1 = 8.8.8.8

Nameserver 2 = 8.8.4.4

Skipped Nameserver 3

9) Shell

Doing "ping -c 3 www.google.com" gets me the "No route to host".

I can still access my FreeNAS GUI and trying to update gives me "No route to host" or going to jails and adding a name gets me "warden_exception: fetch:" also.

Mind you that I tried this out in VirtualBox VMing FreeNAS beforehand and it worked just fine. However, now making FreeNAS the primary OS gives me this error.

I did exactly what I did with the Virtual Machine doing FreeNAS as I did with the primary FreeNAS OS.

How do I fix this?

IIRC the update server etc doesn't work if the "global" tab isn't filled in correctly.

Please quote my post, or put @paddy-stone if you want me to respond to you.

Try setting the subnet mask to 255.255.0.0 or 255.255.254.0

IPv6 : N/A

Nameserver 1: 8.8.8.8

Am I supposed to manually fill in the others with something?

Sorry I don't have mine on right now to check, but shouldn't you have the router's IP address in there somewhere? I can see you set the static address for the freenas server as *.*.0.2 but unless I'm remembering incorrectly (could be) I thought the router/gateway address should be there somewhere, cos if not it doesn't have connection.... but again I could be remembering wrong, it's late I'm tired and I already turned my server off tonight, so can't check my memory right now, so apologies if I got that wrong.

To get the default address of my Router. Am I using the LAN IP Address which is the address I use to access the GUI of my router. Or is it The Internet IP Address which isn't 192.168.x.x?

It seems like from what you're saying it should be my LAN IP Address. I'll try to change it now. And also change back the subnet to 255.255.255.0 from 255.255.254.0

EDIT: This fixed it. Thank you. Ping, Update, and adding a Jail now works. Thanks again much!

That's what I said, you didn't have the router IP address set.
