Questions about RMA process?

RMA Process:

  1. You contact that manufacturer.
  2. Tell them the problem.
  3. Basic troubleshooting, if the component is bad, then RMA (go to step 4) or express RMA (go to step 6).
  4. Send them back the defective component.
  5. They send you a replacement (End).
  6. You give them a credit card # and pay for a replacement.
  7. They send you a replacement.
  8. You send back the defective unit.
  9. They refund you. (End).

I am a little confused about the RMA process of some parts. For example, if I bought a intel processor on Newegg and it comes DOA and the Newegg warranty has expired, how do I RMA it? Could I RMA it through Intel directly since it's a boxed processor? I am asking this because I bought some of my parts for my new build a while back w/ out testing them and I am finally getting around to getting the rest of the parts. I am a bit worried it will be a convoluted process and my last build came w/ 3 DOA parts and I ended up just buying new ones instead returning them. So, I am worried this build may come with DOA parts as well.

Yes that's literally what an RMA is, you send it back to the manufacturer, for example intel.
