Build Of The Month (or similar)

I would love the forum to have something like a monthly or even weekly build that is featured in a pinned thread. Along with badges for the winners and different categories like Office, Gaming, Workstation etc.

Would be really cool since I miss a lot of awesome builds in the Build Logs subforum and it would be really nice to check out sort of the month's highlights of that section.

Winners could either be chosen by voting (simply a Poll?) or LTT staff picks.

Don't really care for the badges and such, but putting up different, completed builds would be good for exposure especially for newbies.

Maybe not a badge, just some text under the username, and only a badge if you get 10, 100 or something like that wins.

Doesn't have to be a badge obviously, was just an idea. Just a small kind of "trophy" to encourage people. Might also be something that can only be seen if you are on the person's profile.

 

@JDE for 100 builds you must be one heck of a pc builder ^^

I would just make one contest per month, i.e. budget build month, water-cooling month, etc.

I would do it every week, in case of price increases, new products, etc.

Like said, there used to be one. Featured in WAN Show. But it requires too much work for gains from LMG side. If there would be community effort which hands LMG all they need to present winner monthly, I guess Linus would consider taking it back. Or its completely gone like Twitter-lightning round or whatever it was called.

 

But it would need people to recommend builds each month (from build logs, not NB&P), some review board to pick final 3/4 and open vote from community, possibly one promoted in WAN show.

If it's just once a month, heck I'd do it!

Have one thread for people "signing-up" their build. And A monthly poll-thread. Announce Winner, give badge, done

Didnt it have to be in the build log section? I dont remember, the last feature build I saw in wan show was back when I first joined up. *shrug*

Yeah, it was only from build logs. Some mods etc. were the ones gathering list in the end, Luke looked it through and Linus went in cold. They talked about having better system, but nothing came from it.

 

I personally liked it. One of better segments of WAN. Beats some silly things like viewer calls from Razer Comms by far.

@Whaler_99 and I used to maintain it with I believe help from @Ghost and a few others if I'm not mistaken. Eventually it just became too much work to maintain.

Yep - the results were put on the WAN show back in the day.

It moved from 'Build of the Week' to 'Build of the Month' to 'Build of the Moment' and then it stopped.
