144htz 1080p/sacrifice freesync?

killsign

If you are targeting 144hz at 1080P, I am surprised you would even go with an RX 580.

If that is your target, i7 coffee lake + GTX 1070+ will be your best bets.

If your main game is Overwatch, you are in an even better spot.

This is an older article, so optimizations have more than likely further improved performance.

A GTX 1070 should EASILY do 144fps+ with no issues.

I agree with @Princess Cadence regarding the i7 piece. Pony up and enjoy your high FPS gaming.

so the only real worth while jump is for a 1080 or 1070 ti? what cards would you recommend I dont really want to spend like 500 on a gpu 450 would be like top.

rx580 is comparable to a 1060 6gb benchmark to benchmark ... you could, possibly go 1070 but noway near a 1080 or 1070ti with 450usd. unless you get relatively lucky to find one but with current shortages i don't think the msrp would apply in most cases.

also cpu wise, a i7 8700 should suffice unless you really need ultra high frame rates, then only a 8700k would edge it on 1080p, i rarely overclocked my 7700k because gpu becomes a bottleneck even at 1440p high frame rate gaming.
