CPU hitting 90 degrees celsius when pc is booted

So, my brothers pc just started acting wierd today. He told me that as soon as he boots his pc it starts over heating, even tough the cpu sits at around 10% Luckily its water cooled so he iust able to use the pc for a short amout of time.

Any thoughts of what might be wrong

What water cooler are you using? The pump may be dead.

Is the water cycling? Maybe the pump is broken and the water is just sitting there heating up.

*Edit Ahh to slow :)

Question when he was building his pc did he remove the plastic on his AIO cover that hold the thermal compound.

Its a kraken x62... It works fine now for some reason it sits at 1700rpm. But yea it might have been the pump

It could be that the pump motor has failed. an easy test is to see if it's making any sounds or vibrations. if it's working, it's probably some air trapped in the cold plate channel. have him remove the cold plate and thermal paste, give it some angle to release the trapped air, and reattach.

Keep an eye out for over heating. I had to return my Kraken x52 as it was dead on day one. Someone else on the forum had 3 faulty Kraken Coolers so I won't be surprised if it dies completely
