New monitor text is pixelated and color fringed

I just bought a 24 inch BenQ Zowie 144hz monitor and have it as a dual display with my old 75hz 21 inch AOC monitor. The old monitor looks fine, but the Zowie is pixelated and the letters have small red and green shifts around the edges. I made sure it was 1080p when I was changing the refresh rate, so that's not the problem. Any solutions?

I only have the one DVI cable that came with it. Should I try HDMI?

Make sure the monitor and the video card are both configured on Full RGB or Full YCbCr  - if one outputs Limited and the other is configured for Full or the other way around, the colors won't look right.

Ugly reds are often a result of your video card outputting YCbCr 4:2:0 instead or YCbCr 4:4:4 ( Full YCbCr) or Full RGB.

Make sure you don't have Overscan or Underscan enabled in the driver settings.

How would I go about checking that?
