29" or 34" ultrawide 1080p

cmptech

To anyone who is into ultrawides, what is your experience with 1080p ultrawides? Of course the pixel density would be better on the 29", but how about the 34"? Is the difference that noticeable?

My argument for the 29" are the lower cost and the higher pixel density. While the 34" is of course larger. Very good for spreadsheets

I'm sticking to 1080p because the monitors are less expensive and it will require less graphical horsepower to drive.

What are you going to use it for?

Curved or not?

IPS,TN, VA?

Are you looking into any specific models?

Pricerange?

I prefer more than one display where one great and one for secondary things. I a 1080p 24" screen and my old 23" screen as secondary which is really handy.

I'd say the 29". I have a 25" one and it's perfect for me, but if you like a bigger screen then the 29" should be the sweet spot. IMO 34" is too big for 1080p, just like a 27" normal monitor is a bit fuzzier than I'd like with a 1080p res.

I've used a LG 29" ultrawide for about 8 months and it was pretty nice. The 29" 1080p ultrawide is definitely the max, though. On 34, it looks like crap.

Usecase is for games and officeworks, mainly excel

Not curved

I prefer IPS

No particular models, although the least expensive ones here are from LG, so i am leaning towards that. ( I do not have access to Pixio monitors).

Pricerange about 280$ for 29" to about 420$ for the 34"

Defo the 29", because the 34" wouldn't be comfortable for lots of reading (I do lots of excel sheets on a 27" 1080p screen, and it's nowhere near as nice as a smaller 21.5" screen). And my 25" one is an LG, and the colors, especially the blacks, are amazing, it's plenty crispy for reading and gaming, and has plenty of room for doing stuff. I'd imagine the 29" would be pretty similar, just not quite as sharp.
