Does this 970 look sketchy? definitely if i found it for a low price.

Found a GREAT deal on a GTX970. was wondering if it looks like there may be damage that anyone can notice? need to know within the hour otherwise i lose my chance at it. i could really use it. Just dont want to buy a damaged card for this steal.

It was pulled from a working machine, used.

looks all normal to me. if you are going to pick it up yourself you could test it there to see if it works.

From looking at the photos there is no immediate physical damage however when buying used you should always see some kind of proof of it working. If you are buying this online its harder but I would say go for it if its a great deal.

Well i can get it for around $157. would that be a bad price point? i plan to sell my 1050Ti and go to this. not much an upgrade but i can get $100 or so for my dual fan 1050TI im sure. which makes the upgrade cost me somewhat of $50-$60 dollars give or take. Worth in yall's opinion?

I sold my GTX 970 for $132 shipped.  It had a broken fan though but it worked and played games. The fan in mine was so annoying though that I went out the very next day and got the GTX 1060 6Gb and I'm very glad I did. It's a much better overall card and it's cooler.

157 isnt a good deal, a new 1060 3gb is 199 atm, and the old evga 970s are notorious for coil whines, one of mine even caught fire.

Does Ebay and Pay Pal not protect you if they sell you a faulty product that they advertised as working?

Also, I would much rather save up for another couple of months and opt for a larger mem capacity 1060.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'd be very careful about buying this particular brand used. I had this exact 970 (EVGA SSC) for about 2 years, and then out of the blue it caught fire in my case while watching a video.....Luckily my system detected the issue and shut down the power to everything, but I had to get a whole new video card that I wasn't planning on spending money on....You can see in the photo where it looks like one of the, what I believe might be, power control chips? Whatever it was, it instantly lit up into a 4" flame.

Your 1050ti is still a great card. You'll be much happier waiting at least until next gen and getting a card that will perform much better and you won't run the risk of losing your money on a bad used deal

That's an F in the profile pic

Save up and get a 2050 ti/2060 next year, your 1050 ti is solid right now and you can get a card in the 1060 - 1070 range of power for $110-250

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious
