Hey all,

Hoping someone could help me find the right kind of case or solution for my next build.  My wife is going to take a travel nursing position soon and thus will be moving around the country every 2 -3 months. I want to build her a new pc before she leaves, I know mostly what components I want, just need to find a case so I can start estimating any fit issues. I want to build her a smaller case not tiny but smaller to make it easier to move when she goes to a new hospital. With that in mind my biggest concern is securing the GPU. I would love to find a case that has a separate GPU mounting solution to keep that weight off of the mobo.  I know she will be careful with the PC, she knows to be, but I want to make it easier so she can grab and it and go without worrying about how she has to pack it in the car.  For example it currently annoys her that for the 7ish hour drive home our PCs have to be put in first and sideways  with mobo down. ( Makes packing an long annoying game of tetris.)  Any help would be killer.

Video small pc very easy to move (case is in description)

I would buy a laptop and an external monitor and keyboard and mouse

but that's just me.

?????

Do you remember the
21st night of September?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away

Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing.
As we danced in the night,
Remember how the stars stole the night away

Cases such as the Dan-A4, the S4M, the DrZaber Sentry, the  Node 202, and SG13B , and M1 are all pretty good SFF cases. I think LTT has done videos over all of them at one point or another.

Of those, the Dan A4, S4M, Sentry, and Node 202 have alternative mounting that requires a riser cable.

There are advantages and disadvantages of all of 'em. The Dan A4, S4M, Sentry, and M1 all cost around/above 200 USD.

I currently have a SG13B and it is doing me alright. For $40, I think it is a great deal.

Here's a list of many cases, but beware - most of the smaller ones aren't compatible with standard hardware.

Fan Comparisons          F@H          PCPartPicker         Analysis of Market Trends (Coming soon? Never? Who knows!)

Designing a mITX case. Working on aluminum prototypes.

Open for intern / part-time. Good at maths, CAD and airflow stuff. Dabbled with Python.

100% think you should be getting her a laptop.

I mean, you can find a small case, absolutely. However what about everything that goes with it? Monitor, keyboard, mouse. This is literally the main reason laptops exist.

If you want an absolutely tiny case, check out the Firewolfy Mi6.

However, if you already have your heart set on components, you need to let us know what they are. Otherwise how are we supposed to pick cases that work with your parts? ;)

So  I'll look into those cases.

 In response to the Laptop

As she already has a gaming PC she has all the peripherals, and she isn't a hard core FPS nut so HDMI to most hotel TVs will be just fine (though she will be taking her small monitor with her for places that don't give access to the tv inputs). The extra cost, and inability to recover parts or replace parts if they break or she takes a permanent position sooner than we expect kind of defeat the laptop. I know I didn't give all the details it just seemed alot to type out. I'm not against gaming laptops if you are somehome who goes to a lot of lan parties, or need the portablity of a computer for something else but as this is strictly a gaming rig and she won't be going to LAN parties or anything the perks of a laptop disappear and I am left with more of the cons then we'd like.

OK that's three cases that are maybes... thou these are still smaller. I definitely like the handle on the Lian Li pc-tu200. The other two are small as well, admitedly these are smaller than I had orginally thought. MY biggest concern is still getting the weight of the GPU off of the mobo, I know pcie extenders/mounts will be necessary just trying to find the right case so I don't have to make huge modifications to a case to make it work. I'll keep looking though this has given me some places to look and at least some options. Thanks all.
