Well I'm bored and need something to do that's fun and pc software related (preferably nerdy)

Things I've enjoyed in the past are creating and using a VM, configuring DOSBox, emulation. I don't mind a challenge either

And P.S I love versions of windows from XP down

Modding games is always fun. you could also setup a VM with a windows server os, 2 vm clients and build up a little domain with the server being the DC of course. Maybe even install MS Exchange and see if you can get it to work to send mails from one vm client to the other. Especially if you consider working in this field, this will give you a lot of useful experience.... if you don't already know how that all works.

Try and see how many mods you can install on skyrim without a crash, last time i played i had close to 200 mods installed and every 4k texture pack. It can be frustrating, but fun.

Here are my "notes" if your intrested:

here you can get server 2012 r2: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-server-2012-r2

here you can get exchange: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49161

Heres a guide on getting your domain up: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/22622.building-your-first-domain-controller-on-2012-r2.aspx

heres a guide for exchange: https://practical365.com/exchange-server/installing-exchange-server-2016/

and

https://turbofuture.com/computers/How-To-Configure-Exchange-After-Installation

Now this is a bit of a challenging task, especially if you're new to all this. but there's plenty of guides out there, video and text based. If you want to pursue a job as sysadmin or something like that it will be a very valuable experience to know your way around this kind of stuff.

Now if that seems a bit too much for you, you could start with setting up your own firewall. its a lot of fun and you can actually put it to use in your home network.
theres a free version for home use here: https://www.sophos.com/en/products/free-tools/sophos-utm-home-edition.aspx

Sophos firewalls are pretty simple to configure and work with, and they're pretty powerful. Guides are also plenty.
