Lack of AMOLEDs in pc monitors

Why don't we see amoled pc monitors, when all these phones are getting these great displays, why aren't pcs getting them too?

Possibly burn-in being a major factor? That's my random guess. You can imagine the taskbar or dock being permanently burned into the screen after a year or so.

it's hard to make bigger screens with amoled. without showing the blank space between pixels

You can buy OLED monitors but they're incredibly expensive. Until it comes out fully CRTs are the way to go for the best image quality.

OLED monitors are only used for certain professional applications and cost thousands of dollars.

You do not want to be using OLED as a regular computer monitor, it will burn in.

This is why manufacturers are doing stuff like QLED instead.

QLED is just a Samsung marketing term to jump on the OLED hype train so they can market it as a different version of OLED and as we can see from your comment that works.

 

QLED has more in common with LCD´s than it does with OLED displays but nobody is gonna be hyped if you say you have an improved LCD these days so better falsely use the term QLED.

Simply because the margins aren't there. It isn't currently profitable to produce OLED monitors at a price point that the majority of consumers are willing to pay.

The manufacturing process has a very high rejection rate when it comes to large panels.

Manufacturers are willing to build OLED TVs because they can charge an high enough price to cover their materials and rejections cost.

If you take a look at the LTT Displays section, you'll see that everyone's constantly asking "What's the best screen I can get for like, $250?"

The majority of PC users are not willing to spend big when it comes to their display; for the most part it's treated like a peripheral rather than the entire basis of interaction with the PC.

 

So until OLED production costs come down much further, or people start being willing to pay closer to the $3/4K mark, we probably won't get much effort put in as far as you're asking. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news haha

Uh, I never said it was as good as OLED, I said it is a different technology.

Go take a look at some reviews, it is definitely better than a regular LCD panel.

There are many problems with OLED.

The burn in issue need to be solved before it can coming to PC monitor.

 

I also want AMOLED or P-OLED or whatever OLED monitor but not the one can easy burn in.

 

I believe it is not there yet to produce OLED as PC monitor yet.

There are many problems with OLED.

QLED is still the normal LCD with LED backlight. QLED is not OLED because QLED is not an emissive display technology like OLED.

 

In short, QLED is just the way Samsung misleading consumer to though this is new OLED but in-fact it is not but just an improvement LED backlight LCD. 

 

QLED = LCD.

OLED is undeniably gorgeous but as stated above it has issues with burn in.

 

My LG 55 OLED has the best picture I have ever seen, after a year I have the fox business network ticker as a permanent addition to the picture.

Haha! FOX ticker as a permanent addition to the picture!

 

They really need to sort out the burn in issue on OLED if they still want to make this OLED as mainstream else I believe soon OLED will be history.

Exactly, that is what the "instead" is saying, that they are pursuing [a technology that isn't OLED] as opposed to OLED. The sentence wouldn't make sense any other way.
