3DS or DS?

I would go for any of the Pokemon games, Dragon Quest, or Final Fantasy games.

Fire Emblem

If you haven't played a fire emblem game, or are a hardcore fan, yeah...

But otherwise... Radiant Dawn is so much better, in the 3DS version you can just farm zombie camps until you have XP and Items to spare :/

I mean I played it for way too long and had fun, but still, no competition for the GC and Wii games.

Pokemon Gold/Silver is really great! Probably my favourite pokemon game.

Metroid Prime Hunter is surprisingly fun

One I can think of that not mentioned yet.

Chrono Trigger - it is a SNES game brought to the DS but still a great game.

O, the Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages/Seasons - seriously, these two are my top favorite of the 2D Zelda games.  Should be on the Virtual Console store.

I agree on the Fire Emblem games.  Game play real easy to pick up, but the later stages can test you out on strategy.

Awakening had that too.  Major reason I went with the other one when Radiant Dawn/Conquest came out.  Conquest will kick your butt around unless you are ready to plan ahead or know how to still use a low level character to take out a higher level.

Vouch on the Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal.  Those are solid Pokemon games.
