antminer s9 noise reduction

I'm looking at a antminer s9 for home use and I've heard that it is quite loud, suggestions appreciated

People normally put them in their garage. If you are looking to get multiple ASICs then you need to consider removing the heat generated and whether your power points in the garage can handle the load (contact a local electrician for advice on how many you can use).

When i was looking for one i saw some watercooling solutions maybe look at that.

Well in that situation you really have to options, fine somewhere to put it out of the way where you hear it so much, or downclock the chips to make them slower... But that would gimp performance.

if he's in the US, generally each room is on either a 15amp or 20amp circuit (120V)

note this is for the entire room.

So max load in one room is somewhere between 1800 and 2400ish watts

I keep all my mining to a dedicated bedroom with a window AC unit. It's still way too fucking loud with only 3 ASIC machines. GPU mining is much, much quieter. However, it is audible from outside my home. You can hear it from underneath the room on the first floor. I have been thinking about moving everything to the garage, but the heat has me worried, among other things; I would rather slightly suffer and know my investments are safe.

 

Depending on how much you are willing to invest, it may be worth it to rent an conditioned storage room. That is really what I am considered. Glad I am not home all day, or the noise and heat would drive me insane. You get used to the noise, fan vibrations and extra heat, but it is not ideal.

 

Honestly, I would look away from mining. It is much, much better to just buy and hold crypto than mining. Investing in cryptocurrinceis is much closer to 'easy money' than actually mining it. I think that is the number one thing to understand. Mining is slow, long term, small and steady. Investing can be big payouts and fast cash.

This is true, be conscious of the wattage you are pulling from each socket. 1 or 2 asics is fine. Several and a couple dozen GPU's could trip a breaker or even blow a fuse. 

 

Apartments, generally, do not have the infrastructure for intermediate to enthusiast mining.
