portable monitor (tablet)

Filips

Hi, guys!

I am on a very tight budget but need a second monitor -  mostly for word and 3d modelling, sometimes for programming, so things like refresh rate, resolution and brightness aren't too important as long as text is readable. I am usually on the go, so big monitor is not an option. I am wondering, has anybody tried to use a cheap chinese tablet as a second screen? is it useable?

tablets usually only have output ports and no video inputs, you will need to search for a while to find one that has an actual input.

There is software that allows you to extend your desktop to a tablet Android/iOS.
But this comes at the cost of latency.
You'd also need WiFi, the crappier the WiFi the crappier it is going to be to use it.

When the PC is acting up haunted,

yup. thats what I was thinking about. wifi should not be a problem, just thinking how big is the latency, like is it possible to watch vids or do something else than reading, asuming that wifi is reasonably fast. image.png.d978a58a7577be733e9bd089853fedbf.png
