Z370 or X299

So I want a 7800k and i'm prepared to fork out $500 to some jackass on eBay, but than it hit me fore the same price I can get x299. But which one should I choose. If i were to to get x299 how much ram should I get and what processor. I know what board I want for both platforms. Will be using PC for content creation and lots of gaming.

You forgot the most important thing in such a consideration, what are you using the pc for?

8700k is better.

OH man what are you thinking! Don't spend that much on the CPU. Search your local classifieds, I've seem them for as low as $250 on local classifieds, and around $300 on Reddit. The 8700k is simply better though. Even when overclocked the 7800k doesn't compare to the 8700k.
