Overclocking

Hello so recently I’ve got an i7 7700k, and I’m still looking for  a really good cooler for it that’s right under 30$ any suggestions (the mobo is the Msi z270 gaming m3)

I would be buying a H100i or something like that if I had a 7700K but if you really want to air cool I would do the Hyper 212 Evo.

For $35 the best budget cooler would be the Cryorig H7 in my opinion, if you have to stay strict to the $30 budget then get the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. Although don't expect to get a max overclock using either cooler.

If you're going with air cooling, why not give the Raijintek Ereboss Core? I know it is a bit more than 30$, but it is definitely worth it If you don't mind having a huge ass cooler in your PC.

I don’t know if I can fit that I’ve got the s340 elite

Doesn't look like it comes with fans either, which is another cost. OP is better off with one of the other suggestions, imo.

Well, your case supports a 161mm high cooler, and the Raijintek is 160mm high, so, in theory, it should be alright as some manufacturers actually advertise the CPU cooler clearance a bit lower than it actually is. But if you buy it, and it doesn't fit, you can always return it (If you buy from Amazon, for example).

I think I might just get a hyper evo 212 I just think it’s the best option it’s 29$

True, I forgot that part even though I knew it. Although, you can find PWM fans for cheap. Sure, it would be a bit more than the 30$ that OP had in mind. But would it be worth it? Sure. Another option would be getting a DeepCool Gammaxx 400. It is quite nice, I recently replaced the stock fan with two Corsair SP120's PWM that I got in a trade in a push-pull configuration and it doesn't go higher than 41ºC in Aida64 (In gaming it goes up to 52ºC due to the heat of the GPU rising), and this is with a Cooler Master Silencio fan as an exhaust fan (which is really a bad option as they are silence optimized). But before I replaced the stock fan, it didn't go higher than 50ºC in Aida64, and about 60ºC in gaming (I had a better exhaust fan back then). These temperatures are from a core i5 2500 at 4.1GHz.

you may have better luck with 2nd hand parts. 30 dollar won't get you anywhere for new coolers, even if you get one, it will be the same or worse than the stock cooler that comes with the cpu.

You'd be better getting a 1600 and using the stock cooler to OC.

 

Unless you've already bought the 1600x, then you don't have many options, 212 evo is the only one i can think of that'll be decent. You won't get any "really good" cooling for $30.

Mines running 3.8ghz at 1.27v  on the stock cooler.

40dollars for ocing a 1600x?
