Was an IT Architect but now am a Video Encoding Engineer(dream job) for a home security corporation. My personal rig is more used for my side projects or when I work remote.  We have more powerful stuff in the office!

Make sense, a coworker of mine has a similar job doing security or something for AT&T. He makes lots of money too lol

I do spend money but also save. My wife makes really good money also. So we dont have money problems. We do have issues with her family sometimes asking for money though...

Wish I have this problem

Another question, what did you study in college?

This doesn't surprise me... it's the reason why I keep my mouth shut about my income. For information, my wife and I are in a similar position as you and yours.

I agree, You would never know me and the wife were well off. We live modestly. Her Sister wanted us to help with a Hospital bill which I have no problem with. But then she wanted to go to Disney with her kids and boyfriend. They have a strained relationship. Anyways, I know what you are saying about my bro. But he has never asked for anything. This is just me doing it for him.

I will always recommend the 29UM68-P or whatever last revision LG is on for the panel as it is by far the best cost benefice there in for a 2560x1080p ultrawide, 29 inches really is this resolution sweet spot as pixel density is still sweet, 34 inches gets pixelated while 25 too small.

The IPS panel overclocked to 80hz thanks to DisplayPort makes it by all means superior to any 1920x1080p screen, and if ultrawide becomes your thing like it did to me you'll understand I can say to honestly appreciate 2560x1080p more than 2560x1440p due to preferring 21:9 aspect ratio.

You've always used a pretty top end video card though, no? How do you think it'd fare with something like a 1070?

I'm skipping 1440p/GTX 1080 plans, and going for a 32" 4k monitor in a couple years when I move back to the coast.

damn man!!! Do u mind if I ask what you do?

Im surprise you didn't get like top of the line 10 cores, custom water cooling etc. lol

Actually if i made that much money I would spend it on other "unhealthy stuffs" and not computer hardware lmao.

Issue with making that much money is taxes lol. I remember thinking once I get past this number, then I am set... Then you have kids, different expenses, high taxes, and then you realize you loose 30k a year to the fed.

1070?

As you may remember I used to have a Maxwell GTX TITAN X paired with this particular monitor, that wasn't on its best shape any more and any 1070 should be equal or better, even the most demanding game can see 60hz stable or 80hz if you go easy on settings and still look really good.

I actually made a footage of it in Deus Ex Mankind Divided, As you can see even pretty much max out it managed to keep above 50's fps on 2560x1080p even on the maps most demanding section:

I've plans to compare it now that I have got 16gb of better ram and the 1080 Ti into this system, only issue is that I uninstalled the game so gonna take a little while for this comparison xD

Better than making minimum wage at McDonald's while paying off your college debt...

Everyone pay tax. doesnt matter what you do or how much money you make...

I'm not thinking of having kids anytime soon, but I've heard that the gov gives you money if you have kid here in Canada.

Aye indeed I do. That looks pretty good! Though...if I went ultrawide it would undoubtedly raise the whole "to go Vega 56 or not" question. I think I'd have to. It has FreeSync, yes?

Vega 56 seems to be a good deal if you can get it for a good price. One Newegg I am seeing them for around $469 USD. I am also seeing Vega 64 for $569. Both are decently priced.....but the Vega 56 is $70 dollars more than an aftermarket cooler EVGA 1070. I would wait for the aftermarket coolers for the Vega 56 to launch and then get one! Even if it is a bit more...you get more long term going with a free sync monitor.

Yeah, but FreeSync monitors are a lot less expensive than a GSync monitor. So it more than makes up the difference. I can't even really fault the pricing, as the 56 sits between the 1070 and the 1080. Wish there were some on the used market, but it doesn't seem like that mining's dying down anytime soon.

We'll see though. I might just stick with my 24" monitor. Depends how much I settle on spending.
