Hello everyone! I was working on my new loop today and I started flushing out the radiator. Although EK claims the radiators to be pre-cleaned I decided to still clean it. I guess it was worth since a few of the times a lot of bad stuff went out of it. But now it's about 2 hours later, I wasted the whole 1,5L bottle of distilled water and some gunk still poured out of it just 5 minutes ago. I did about 10-15 runs at it, each time shaking it for about 5 minutes. Is it ok for it still not to be completely clear when I pour out the water with about 3-5 black particles coming out of it? Should I keep on doing or is it pretty good already?

keep going untill nothing comes out, but honestly if  you have gone through 15 runs then id contanct EK and ask them about it... even Alphacool rads tend to be clean after just a few and they are gerally pretty bad

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

i would make a huge complaint really, eventhough new rads tend to have a lil bit of junk in, if it as much as u said that thing was used... and even in a mixed metal loop even

i would return the product really :S maybe the rad even damaged in the inside ( depending what gunk is coming out ) , but that thing surely was used if its alot of gunk ( and in a bad loop :S )

Could it be possible, that I'm not shaking hard enough or pouring it out to early?

can be possible, but then again i think the rad was used because it shouldnt be that hard to clean a new rad... :S usually its only a tiny bit coming out of a new rad

if u wanna clean it alot u can always try up warming up the distilled water and then pour it in, warmth helps with gunk cleaning ( however dont make it super hot rofl )

Just to make sure it's just me thinking there's too much gunk I will attach the picture of the poured out water after the first and the last attempt at cleaning it. Now that I look at those pictures it actually makes me worried. I didn't mention it before but the rad is and SE360

both of those are too much gunk

Why can't they make rads that you don't have to clean. 2 hours for nothing...

transparent is better, get to see if it's actually clean or not and because it's transparent then any dark color residue means there is still gunk in it.

Can you attach the pump and pipes to it and use that to flush the gunk out?

I only have hard tube and fittings for it. Although I could try doing something since I did buy about 4 meters of that stuff. My pump is D5 Revo from ek, would that work?

If it would be clear than cooling performance would drop since acrylic isn't as good as some metal, if I'm not mistaken

Not sure it it will work, but my idea to use the pump to flush the  gunk out of the rad. Off course add the distilled water to flush it out.

Could it not gunk up the pump too though? I am trying 50 degree Celsius water in there right, just to try something else, if nothing helps I will probably try creating a pressure based loop, pouring water from a funnel up top for pressure to push it out the outlet.

Not a closed loop

To clean radiators, all of them, you should either do what you are doing until you have no more stuff coming out, which will take like one or two barrels of distilled water or just get PrimoChills Sysprep and run it in a makeshift loop of just the pump and radiator for about two days then flush with like a liter of distilled water. That shit takes time to come out.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.
