4x 1050Ti or 1x 1080 for blender

I'm trying to get quick render times in blender and I'm trying to figure out if 4x 1050Ti's be better then a single GTX 1080 in GPU Compute.

 

Note: I only have a single 8 pin power connector or dual 6 pin connectors

 

The reason I ask is that 4x 1050Ti's have 3072 CUDA cores vs the GTX 1080's 2560 CUDA cores.

Do they have to be in SLI for blender? Cause you can't SLI 1050ti's.

2 GTX 980 Ti would be better than both

Blender can use Multiple GPUs even with out SLI

get a quadro lol rip money , however u should be able to get a quadro for +- that money? ( not sure about current prices )

You can get adapters that will turn molex or sata connectors into 6 or 8 pins

Not to mention if you have a full power supply already are you sure your systems gonna be capable of powering those cards?

Single 1080 because of VRAM. when rendering on the GPU you are limited by your VRAM not your RAM so scenes that are larger than the VRAM will not render.

Will the GDDR5X memory be sufficient in blender? I have no experience with blender. If not, you may have to go with a different card than the 1080. 

 

The reason I am stating this is because mining software was not utilizing the GDDR5X memory speed.

it's not the price, it's the price to performance. You can get quadros for $200 to the thousands. But to get the performance of a 1050ti, you'd be in the multi-hundred dollar range.
