A while back I got rid of my smart phone and opted for a flip phone. I had my reasons to do that but now I have too many reasons to come back to 201X and upgrade.

Needs:

  • I need an android that goes for under $50 USD.
  • I need it to be supported by a heavy duty case manufacturer. (For example OtterBox)
  • Cricket availability or unlocked

Wants:

  • I my main want is for it to be speedy. I hate lag. I used to have a Galaxy S2 and a bottom of the bin laptop. Now I have a gaming PC and an iPad Mini 4; I'm not going back man.
  • I want it to support Nougat. I'm a stickler for having the latest version of an OS.

Things to keep in mind:

  • The display doesn't need to be anything special.
  • I don't need good camera (or a camera at all).
  • As long as I can expand the storage it doesn't matter

That's not happening.

I'd highly advise you to bump up the spending a teeny bit (actually more like double) and try grab a Motorola E4 for $99. it's miles better than what you'd get for $50. (IDK exactly how prepaid phones work, but you can get a prepaid Verizon E4 for $40)

also, if you have amazon prime, they have some really sweet deals on phones.

While you guys are finding some sweet deals can you find me a gaming PC under $25 that can do 4K gaming at 60FPS at least high settings? I'm also a stickler for having the latest version of things, so it needs an NVME SSD, and an 8th Gen CPU, although Ryzen/Kaby lake will suffice as a last resort.

/s of course

I'm sticking with my moto E4 recommendation. it's at least mostly supported by a lot of case brands.

Yeah I find as soon as any android becomes more than 3 years old it becomes slow and plagued with issues. (from my experience)

As much as I prefer android any day of the week, I've managed to get far more use out of iphones. So if you're planning on just doing basic stuff (like basic social media crap and using it for general smartphone stuff) then don't rule out apple products.

This would be the point where I would say that "this is more like Can you find me a pc that is usable for under $25?" In this case however, our OP seems to be quite the optimist.
