More OP thread control

Beef Boss
Go to solution Solved by Nocte,

I can see your point of view, but I don’t see why you would want to lock/delete threads... They hardly derail off-topic, and when they do, mods lock them. If it was something that happened constantly it would make sense.

In my opinion it would be nice to give users a time window (~10 minutes) to delete the thread they just opened, so that double posts, bad section, etc. can be fixed by the users themselves. But definitely not a permanent time window, that would just be abused by some users that delete threads in which they don’t agree with the responses, and it would harm the forum when looking at search engines.

One feature I'd love, and I'm sure many others would agree with, is being able to lock threads that we've made. Like, if we get an answer that completely solves what we asked and we can then lock it since it's not needed now. Or delete the thread all together. Of course, the staff at LMG would be able to see, restore and unlock or comment in locked threads. But if a thread gets derailed it would be nice to just get rid of the thread.

This is the reason why such things aren't given to normal users. If OP feels like thread should be locked or deleted, they can report it and mods handle things. Deletes for most topics shouldn't happen as many of those are either troubleshooting or questions. Which both would be nice to see when coming off Google.

want to delete or lock your post? report it then and say you want it locked or deleted. thats about it. its a power that could easely be abused so only mods have it

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Allow members to delete their own posts
If you would like something to be removed, please report it, and it will be removed by a moderator. However, a significant number of the deletion requests that we get are because the topic is solved, which is not a valid reason for deletion - by leaving the topic, it can help other people in the future.
