What hard drive?

  1. 1. Seagate or Western Digital?

I'm going to be building a new gaming PC-Thanks to Linus of course(and also Luke if you know what I mean)

I've narrowed it down to two options which are WD Black Or BarraCuda Pro

I know that WD Black is noisy from what I've read and came out in 2013

Barracuda Pro is also really slim and came out in 2016

I think the extra seven dollars is really worth it

Honestly with WD I never ever get a warranty or use it. I've had the same WD Blue since 2009 and it has 6.5 YEARS of power on time. Honestly, from experience, i've had 3 WD Drives, none have failed. I've had 3 Seagate drives, 1 has failed and 1 is giving me errors on windows.

 Gaming PC: i5 3570, 16GB 1600MHz, GTX 780 3GB, Transcend 128GB, WD 500GB, Seagate 500GB, Thermaltake 600W Smart, S340 w/ RGB, Windows 10 Pro

 Server: Xeon E5 2650, 12GB 1600MHz ECC, 8400GS, WD 2TB + 1TB + 1TB, EVGA 500B 500W, Windows 10 Pro

 Laptop: Macbook Pro Retina 2013, i7 4558U, 8GB 1600MHz, Intel Iris Pro 1.5GB, Apple 256GB NVME, Mojave

 

 Internet: $70/month For 500/100, Actually get 525/102

I vote for the Black, I've had one of the 1TB drives for 6 years and it's still going with no errors for that whole time, I also have a Seagate dating back to 2011 but that does make some noise and hasn't been used for that many hours.

As far as the BarraCuda Pro listed (ST2000DM009) goes, it has a 5 year warranty and a 2 free years of Rescue Services.

Thank you for considering Seagate, regardless of which route you go!
