You don't have to pay to use windows 10 since it's 98% functional for free (and the restrictions can be bypassed if you google hard enough) since M$ makes it's money back through all the telemetry it gathers from your computer and sells on to third parties.

If you're happy buying product keys bought illegitimately or bought using Stolen credit cards then you can buy from Kinguin or G2A.

If you're fine paying the normal price legally for a real product acquired legally, Microsoft or any retailer selling Windows at the usual price will be happy to accommodate.

That's what I did last time. Paying $119.99 again is kinda ridiculous, especially if this new build is a gift.

Practicing strict adherence to every federal, state or even county speed limit is just as ridiculous.

I understand morals and ethics in addition to the actual legality, but when traffic (including police) are passing you while you're already doing 85mph in a 65mph zone... your mind changes pretty quickly.

You buy a Windows License to use Windows on a PC. What did you expect?

This isn't strict adherence. This is basic morals and ethics.

Just buy a key from 3rd party seller. They are usually legit, usually from people who have a lot of PCs with it pre-installed. Microsoft only sells it for $120 to individual consumers. When large companies install then, it's much cheaper. That's why you can buy a $199 laptop with windows on it.

I guess some people somehow get keys in bulk and resell them.

For a personal build, sure, official Windows is just a 'have to' and quite frankly a total rip off. But I'm not paying $129.89 again just so my grandma can use the PC I'm building her after Harvey took her house, alright?

Have you ever even paid for Windows?

I'm not a fanboy. I like Windows 10 Mobile. Windows 10 Desktop currently supports all the tools and programs I use on a daily basis. I even have Ubuntu Linux dual booted on both my laptop and Desktop.
