The Ryzen 5 1600 is much better than the i5, so the Ryzen setup is better

BTW, I am pretty sure that you mean X370, not Z370 ;)

the intel cpu is locked, so no overclocking for that one.

As is i would pick the ryzen build, but might suggest going with a $100 range b350 motherboard and getting a 2x8GB kit of ram.

u dont need a x370 motherboard for ryzen unless you want SLI/crossfire. a b350 is sufficient.

ryzen cpu can be overclocked and match to i5 single thread performance. but multi-thread work ryzen is much more superior.

So ryzen setup is better. and potentially cheaper if you go for b350 motherboard.

If you're just playing games then get the intel. If you plan on streaming, youtubing, intensive programming, etc. Then get the Ryzen.
Also, if you're getting intel get the i5 7600k

Yes, get the WORST value chip out of the series of bad value chips.

Get the Ryzen, easily superior and better upgrade path

The R5 1600 build but with a different power supply. The Corsair CX450M would be a good choice.

'Fanboyism is stupid' - someone on this forum.

Be nice to each other boys and girls. And don't cheap out on a power supply.
