Can I get some suggestions on the parts I chose?

Judeha

Hi! I mainly use this build as a workstation (video postproduction, photoshop large image processing, 3D Alias modelling, Blender rendering, Cinema 4D Rendering, maybe Maya in the future and a little gaming like GTAV, Forza, Need for Speed) My budget is around £2,800 British pound ($CAD 4,700)

Here are the lists of the components I choose for this build, any suggestions will be appreciated!!

1. AMD Ryzen 7 1800X 95wTDP

2. Cooler Master MasterLiquid 120mm cpu Liquid Cooler

3. MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon (I prefer the 3.1 Gen2 USB-C)

4. Corsair CMK64GX4M4A2666C16 Vengeance LPX 64 GB (4 x 16 GB) DDR4 2666 MHz C16 XMP 2.0 High Performance Desktop Memory Kit

5. AMD vega frontier edition Graphics Card air cool version (300wTDP)

6. Samsung 500GB EVO NVMe SSD

7. Seagate BarraCuda 2TB 3.5' Hard Drive

8.TP-LINK Archer T8E AC1750 Dual Band Wireless PCI Express Adapter

9. EVGA 850 GQ, 80+ Gold 850w, Semi modular power supply

10. Corsair Air 540 ATX Case

And I've got a question

Since Ryzen only comes with 24 PCIE lanes, does the upper configurations fit? (x16 graphics card, x4 NVMe, 1 SATA, 1 Wifi Card) very confused on this....

In addition, I am going to run windows 10, and using 4k 27 inch monitor(already own). Probably will consider OC and a second graphics card in the future.

Thanks!

You can go with a 1700 and overclock it to 1800x speeds.

Your configuration should fit. You can also do crossfire (8x8).

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

Don't get an 1800X. Get a 1700 (non X), it comes with a very good stock cooler, it can be overclocked to 3.9-4GHz and it costs $200 less than the 1800X :D And get an ASUS or AsRock board, MSI ones have a lot of issues.

I don't know for sure whether ryzen pairs better with vega or with the 1080ti, but I do know you will save yourself >100 pounds by buying a 1080ti

Try using the PSU Tier List!

Hello I would go with a 240 watercooler like the Antec mercury 240(rgb) (Link) because 120 aio the most times worse than air coolers and get an Asus board as the msi ones have lots of trouble

ask me about your system builds, AIO's, CPU's, PSU's, and GPU's.

Try to see if you can make a threadripper build.

Not sure about this one.. I saw some bench mark and Vega is higher in some 3D bench, and I probably need large GPU memory to do texture work.

The 1700X is slightly better binned, but the 1700 costs less. Get the 1700 ;)

Get a 1700 instead, consider a different mobo, you might want a better psu with this good of a build (evga g2/G3 or Seasonic focus plus perhaps), and frontier edition feels like a bit of a waste, you'd be better off with Vega 64 or a GTX 1080 ti (I'm not sure which is better for you).

With ryzen having 24PCIe lanes, running a GPU + NVME SSD + a bunch of expansion cards should be okay. At worst your GPU will be knocked down to PCIe x8 but that has shown to have little to no impact in real world usage.

I would buy a lower cost motherboard (still X370) and put the extra cash into faster RAM as Ryzen has shown to benefit from that.

Thanks! a question, I know that Ryzen can manage 3200 Ram, since I need 64 gb, does those 4X16gb ram straps run full speed on dual channel?

Chances are you won't be able to hit the full 3200 since 4x16gb is two dimms per channel and dual rank, which is like worst case scenario for Ryzen :D

Thanks! Definitely gonna get 1700. The reason I consider frontier edition is that firstly I'll probably upgrade to threadriper platform, and I need higher GPU memory for texturing work in 3D modelling.

hey I don't know where you gonna buy it but in some shop in the uk the 1700x is cheaper if you have any questions you can send me a pm

ask me about your system builds, AIO's, CPU's, PSU's, and GPU's.

I would get better mobo.

Asus Prime X370 Pro would be well enough.

ASRock Killer X370 SLI/ac as well

Don't buy Apple M1 computers with 8GB of RAM
