Ultrawide vs 4K Choosing Dilemma

Flevor

Okay so i'm seriously stuck between two cases

I'm going to buy either one of these new monitors that are coming out soon

Asus ROG PG35VQ - 35 inch UWQHD (3440x1440) curved, G Sync, 200Hz, Qdot and HDR 10

OR

Asus ROG SWIFT PG27UQ - 27 inch 4K UHD(3840x2160), G Sync HDR,Qdot and 144Hz

My Rig:

GTX 1080 SLI

i7-7700k

32Gb RAM Corsair vengeance LPX 2666Mhz

MSI Gaming M5

So this is where i'm stuck i really do not know what to go for O_O

I'm used to 4K since i own an Acer XB271HK

I've never had Ultra Wide but it looks so amazing to game with but then again 4K everything looks so cripsy and nice

Some part of me wants to go for an ultra wide but the other part wants to stay at 4K since i'm afraid i'll lose too much quality during gaming

Note: i Mainly play world of warcraft and sometimes new singleplayer titles like Tomb raider or The Witcher 3 etc or some Diablo or Overwatch time to time but mainly World of Warcraft

I hope someone can make my softing my choosing pain since i'm literally torn between these two

Ultrawide seeems so cool...but 4K sigh...

I literally just had this dilemma, event went as far as to spending a few hours at my local pc specialist shop to weigh up the pros and cons. All in all in going to be getting the 4k display simply because I am connecting my Xbox one and ps4 pro to it and support for these devices on ultrawide is negligible. The immersiveness of 21:9 is better for general gaming and light productivity in my opinion, plus you get higher frames and a smoother gameplay as it's not as hard to push. If they supported consoles i would be at 21:9.

Get a 40 or 50" 4k 16:9 screen, that way you always have the option of playing ultrawide if you want and it will be about the same size as a 34" ultrawide.

NEW PC build: Blank Heaven   minimalist white and black PC     Old S340 build log "White Heaven"        The "LIGHTCANON" flashlight build log        Project AntiRoll (prototype)        Custom speaker project

OP wants the latest technologies e.g HDR quantum for g sync and 150+hz which isn't available on 40 or 50" models

I'd do the ultra wide because it's 1440p, so it will pretty sharp, and you get that surround experience.

Agreed, there will be a slight sharpness dip since it's not 4k. But honestly in my opinion the surround experience is so much more worth it. And with his set up he could crank up aa technologies

The I would go with ultrawide since it will have more visible screen area.

4k at a tiny 27" doesn't make much sense.

I'd take triple monitors and ultrawide over a 16:9 any day.

Because of the higher resolution pixels are packed closer together making things look sharper. But in such a small screen it's incredibly overkill.

Yeah. Because they can increase the screen size a lot more, while maintaining the quality and not pixelating.

Adding more pixels just makes the scene sharper, but adding more length allows you to see more of the scene at once. It's also great when you see something on the side of your 21:9 (or in my case the side monitor) and are able to react to it.
