Curious about Hackintosh...

So I'm considering about making my old rig into a Hackintosh, since apparently Vista HATES it. I was wondering if there was anything to be concerned about. I've heard that Hyper-Threading doesn't work under OS X, and I was wondering if that's actually true. The computer I'm going to do this on is in my sig (in the middle spoiler).

 

And if someone could direct me to a .iso, that would be nice, since I don't know what mine is.

Check part compatibility. I think there are still some parts that the OSX cannot support.

Yes, I don't know who though. Look up some mac build logs and you're bound to find one.

would think anything older than a core 2 is gonna be incompatible tbh, but as suggested above check out that Tonymac site it's pretty much the definitive resource imo.

Waaaaaaayyy out of the price range for X79. I just want to see what my old rig can possibly do.

So i think you won't be able to run OS X Mavericks. Maybe an older version will work.

As far I know your graphic card is unsupported and your CPU too.

This at least for Mavericks. For all older Operating Systems I have no idea.

I was thinking about Snow Leopard or Leopard. If not there's always Ubuntu and Joli OS 1.2.

I see in your "Avenger" sig, I'm assuming you're referring to this one. It has an AMD cpu. AMD architecture is unsupported with any popular Hackintosh method. Also, if you are going to use the tonymacx86 method you need an official version of the OS downloaded off the App Store not a pirated iso image. 

 

Hyper threading is supported in OS X just as a caveat.

I have not seen a Hackintosh build with a Pentium before. Your best bet of build of OS X would be 10.6.X or Snow Leopard. It could be possible, but considering Apple has never used a Pentium before, they started with the Core 2, it might not be. The video card could also be compatible with Snow Leopard after a quick googling around. It's definitely worth the experiment especially if the rig isn't being used for anything. Snow Leopard is my favorite build of OS X anyway.

It wouldn't do anything. I just went through 6 DVD's for nothing. But it has XP on it now.

Just go with Sow Leopard or Leopard. As mentioned before tonymacx86 is the best source you got to install it. Due to the fact its and Intel build with an AMD card it's easier than any other case. Pentium IV is compatible with 10.5 or 10.6 since many of the old iMacs used that CPU. I wouldn't bother. Your experience won't be a good one with that hardware.
