Upgrading from an FX-8320 without getting new RAM

Hi, I'm new here and wanted to ask what's the best motherboard and K series i7 option for upgrading out of my FX-8320 which I've overclocked to 4GHz. I've looked at Z170 motherboards with DDR3 support, but learned that these run RAM at 1.35V, and I have 4x8GB Kingston HyperX Fury Blue, which are made for 1.5V. I read from many places that this would damage my CPU or motherboard, as well as that this isn't actually going to damage anything but still not recommended, so I don't know what to believe. However, I don't want to have to buy new RAM or anything else at all. I just want to get a motherboard and a CPU that can get me superior multithreaded performance (for gaming and LTspice simulations) and single threaded performance (for compiling on Xilinx ISE) without the need for new RAM.

Should I only be looking and considering 4th generation i7 like the 4790K and Z97 motherboards to get the most out of my current hardware, or am I able to make the most of my current hardware by getting an i7 7700K or 6700K along with a Z170 motherboard that supports DDR3?

I have heard bad things about ddr3 with that the 6000 series. The 4000 series is your best bet to keep your RAM the same.  @silver_morales

Intel CPUs didnt advance that much in performance throughout the years, so a 4770k/4790k + Z87/Z97 mobo is enough.
