A Ultra Thin laptop for basic Web Browsing and stuff.

I am looking for an Ultra thin laptop with very long battery life.  I would put linux on it and code most of the time. Also, I would want to browse web, watch youtube videos with headphones on, that's about it. No graphic intensive work. I want it on the cheap side (like chrome books) or at least cheaper than the MacBook(Non pro) I will be comparing it to. 13 inch is ideal but don't mind bigger or smaller size if it gives more battery or is cheaper.

In summery, at least 12 hrs of battery with medium load and ultra light( as heavy as New MacBook. ).

Look up the LG Gram. It's a pretty penny but checks all your boxes.

You're not getting anything with 12 hour battery for cheap.

You'll have to temper your expectations if you're going to find something you will like.

As suggested above, LG Gram.

That's about as light as it's going to get (around 1kg)

you could look at getting a lenvo t460 or thinkpad 13, both of those have devent specs that arent super expesive (although they are prices for professional use)

XPS 13 or LG Gram are your best options. If you're looking to run Linux, I'd lean towards the XPS as Dell actually sort of supports linux on that lineup.

You're not going to get what you want for the price of a Chromebook - if you could, then a manufacturer would already be selling barebones "Chromebook" devices preinstalled with a variant of Linux and probably be dominating the market.

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, RTX2060) Mobile: OnePlus 5T | REDACTED - 50GB US + CAN Data for $34/month

Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 | Panasonic TS20D Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

Programming on linux requires as much processing as a raspberry pi. Also Lg Gram has around 7 hr, I think, which is way below the MacBooks 12 hrs. It is cheaper so I will look into it. But battery of the MacBook far outweigh it's higher cost.

Let me jolt down some specific specs I would like to see in such a laptop:

  • It should have an SSD not hdd. 128gb or more.
  • A good display. Not high end 4k but at least 1080. Don't care about touch.
  • Battery is the main selling feature. At-least 8hrs on medium use.
  • Portable. Light. around 13 inch.
  • Don't care if it's i3 or i5. Don't require an i7. (can be a pi 3 inside for all I care)
  • around 6gb of ideal ram but don't really care about it. Can be 4 or 8gb.
  •  Don't care about i/o but a headphone jack would do me good.

If you find such a laptop with these specs please do notify me :) ....I couldn't find any myself.

In meantime, I would try testing LG Gram in a store or someplace.
