1000$ gaming build - advice?

Axel1

1. Budget & Location

I live in Slovakia (Europe) so the actual price might be around 850 EUR, however planning to purchase parts from Amazon, Newegg or whoever gives the best offer.

Minus the monitor and keyboard from the total, I guess the build would amount to around 800$.

2. Aim

Gaming only. I wish to play all the new titles on max settings at 60fps on 1080p for the next few years. Can compromise to medium settings in about 2-3 years if needed.

3. Monitors

I only need 1 monitor with 1080p, 60hz, at least 24inch which is enough for me.

4. Peripherals

Just monitor + keyboard (nothing fancy).

5. Why are you upgrading?

Simply wishing to game intensively the best titles at max settings. Could never afford to do that, so I finally wish to invest in this.

So far, my picks are:

Processor: Ryzen 5 1600

Motherboard: unsure

Memory: 2x8 GB

GPU: nVidia GTX 1060 6GB (had my eyes on EVGA Superclocked edition)

Case: Silverstone Raven RVZ01 (undecided - I want a slim case as I might move out of the country and wish to travel with it - worried on proper cooling though. This one support HDD as well)

PSU: a 450/500W SFX

Storage: SanDisk SSD PLUS 480GB + a 1TB HDD

Cooler: I'd like to keep the Wraith as it seems to work well, yet it seems it wouldn't fit in the case.

So any suggestions, improvements, advice, offers you guys might have, please help out in the comments. Your help is greatly appreciated :D

Please don't get SSD Plus, bad drives. Go with an ASRock B350 or ASUS B350 mobo. I invite you to get a CX550(M) as they are budget and reliable as I've seen for PSU.

How are they bad? By reviews and testers so far, I understood there is little difference between the manufacturers/versions.

Sounds good to me. How about 500W tho? Or even 450W? it's not enough?

Get a 450 or 550W psu, some people say 500W psus are unreliable (no idea if legit or not, @STRMfrmXMN halp)

CX450(M) or 550(M) are my choices.

Having used the Asrock B350M Pro4 I'd not recommend it for overclocking. Everything else is fine on it though.

How about psu? I heard like the 500B1 or BQ or whatever by EVGA is trashy.

The CX-M (grey) series is high quality, and if this were a tier list it would be the least I would recommend for a gaming PC. This doesn't mean it's bad, it's just good, not great or excellent.

Hi there,

Is the CX550M SFX or SFX-L tho? As far as I saw on their website, it's an ATX, so it wouldn't fit in the slim case. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

And in this case? What's your rec?

Thank you.

I'm blind. In that case, I would go for the Enermax Revolution SFX 650W, since that's a cheap and good SFX unit.
